It's time to catch up again...

When I started this project, I had already had a few.

Yes. I was drinking at the time, but what I really mean is that I have been trying new beers for years.

So. This is the next installment of catch up. This next bunch are the macro/ crap beers that I want to get off my chest and admit that I have tried but yet I want to bury them deep in the mindless dribble of my blog. I'm not proud, but I don't regret either.

Think of me what you will. Here they are in full glory...

Troegs in PA and Confluence in IA

Recently I was driving across the country from New Jersey to Colorado. Along the way I was able to hit two breweries.

Troegs Brewery- Hershey, PA- about 10 minutes south of I-76
I was able to enjoy an expanded taster tray of 7 beers. They also have food, which you can order and then return to drinking, I mean tasting, the beer.

Here are the beers that I sampled...

Hopback Amber Ale

Trogenator

Perpetual IPA

Dreamweaver Wheat

Troegs Pale Ale

Javahead Stout

Scratch #116 Fresh Hop

The highlights were the Fresh Hop IPA which was one of their small batch beers and the food. I had a really fantastic slow roasted pork sandwich.

Confluence Brewing- Des Moines, IA- about 5 minutes south of I-235

Highlights include hanging with friends and eating pizza, the Des Moines IPA and every beer I sampled was good.

The beers that I sampled:

Des Moines IPA
Gray's Lake Nessie
Oktoberfest
Thomas Beck

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the random beers I had while watching football in Harrisburg, PA and at lunch with my brother in Oak Brook, IL. All were good and they include:

Great Lakes Burning River Pale Ale
Victory Headwaters IPA
Two Brothers Domaine DuPage

Good things Happen...

Good things happen when you go to a brewery at 1pm.

I was at Oskar Blues yesterday and tried a few of their beers that you can't get outside of the brewery. Basically their standard beers aged in whiskey, wine or rum barrels. Yea. Kinda awesome.
Here's what I had:

Fresh Willamette Dales Pale Ale
Pink Boots Society Extra Pale Ale
30 YR Appleton Estates Barrel Fidy
Port Barrel Deviant
Tequila Barrel Gubna
Nitro French Oak G'Knight
Freedom Tickler Saison

And then, the highlight of my visit. The wonderful woman behind the bar, stepped away for a minute, grabbed a Dales Pale Ale off of the canning line and gave it to me. It was the best, freshest Dales I've ever had. It was amazing. And here's a picture...

...Mmmmmm.

107 recorded Beers...
